Minister Jayantakumar wishes Theatre Olympians from Manipur

Imphal February 18, 2018 (DIPR) : Art & Culture Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh has wished ‘Good Luck’ to the participants of the 8th Theatre Olympic India, 2018 today in a function particularly held for wishing them at the Conference Hall of the Art & Culture Department at Palace Compound, Imphal.

Speaking as Chief Guest, the Minister said that it is indeed a moment of pride of Manipur since 9 Theatre Units from the state is going to participate in the Extravaganza Event of theatre Olympic, 2018 which is being hosted in India. Occupying a place in such International event is also a precious moment of the Art & Culture Department, Government of Manipur.

Minister also highlighted the opportunities available in the state to host National and International events. There were instances where the state was invited for hosting big theatre events. Financial handicapped of the state is one of the major obstacles to organise such events, he added. Minister also asserted that the Government is trying its best to uplift the Art & Cultural activities of the state.

Referring to the Suri International Cultural Festival, Thailand, 2018 in which Manipur was named ‘the best performer’ and ‘most outstanding Cultural Troupe’, Shri Jayantakumar expressed his hope that the Theatre Troupes from the state, who are participating in the 8th Theatre Olympic India, 2018 also will bring laurel of the land.

The Best Wishes Ceremony was also attended by Commissioner Art & Culture, M. Luxmikumar Singh, IAS as President. Renown theatre personalities and artists from many theatre groups the state also attended the function.

As a mark of honour and encouragement, Minister Jayantakumar presented shawls to the theatre personalities.

The Theatre Olympics, 2018 India has started from 17th February, 2018.
