Journalists’ sports meet kicks off

Pothashng News Service: Imphal, March 1, 2018: Youth affairs and sports minister Letpao Haokip today kicked off the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union Sports Meet at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

The sports meet is conducted annually during Yaoshang holidays. This time the meet is launched on the eve of Yaoshang festival. This was the eight edition of the sports meet. And this time it will be a 3-day event.

Letpao focused on the necessity of games and sports in life and said it only will bring a healthy disease-free society.

The sports meet is being held at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal. All the working journalists of the state are taking part in the meet.

The minister also participated in the torch-run from Kangla to launch the event.

Letpao said organising such events will lead the society to a right and healthy direction. He also applauded AMWJU for this initiative and assured his support in such similar causes.

The minister appealed the public, especially the youth to indulge in at least one discipline of sports in life.
