Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Schedule Caste Girls Hostel inaugurated in Andro

IMPHAL, MARCH 5, 2018 (DIPR): Education, Labour & Employment Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam and Forest & Environment and MAHUD Minister Shri Th. Shyamkumar Singh today inaugurated the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and Schedule Caste Girls Hostel at Loupaochun, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East. The inauguration is part of the ‘Inauguration Fortnight’ to commemorate the first anniversary of the first BJP led government in the State.

The school which has Classes till 8, has been constructed under the funding of SSA whereas the hostel has been constructed under the MsDP of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. The school which has capacity for 105 students has currently enrolled 183 students.

Speaking as the chief guest, Th. Radheshyam said recently he submitted a memorandum to the Centre at the Central Advisory Meeting on Education to extend the residential high schools upto Class 12. He said he is optimistic that the memorandum will be fulfilled as the Centre is giving special emphasis on the education of the girl child.

Education Minister said at present there are 11 KGBV schools and 9 residential schools for boys and girls in the State. He said he is aware of the fact that students face admission problem after Class 8, especially the students from the poor strata. Acknowledging the problems faced by the teachers, he assured that regular appointment and salary structure of teachers will be addressed to the Chief Minister. He also assured that the demand for infrastructures, including an auditorium will be included in the DPR.

He further said the State Government is giving special attention to the Government schools following the success story of the Government schools in Andro A/C. Appealing to the parents to give positive encouragement and teach discipline to their wards as the child first learns from home, he appealed to the teachers to make the school environment cordial so as to keep up the enthusiasm of the child. The positive collaboration of teachers and parents will surely pave a way for success for the child, he added.

Th. Shyamkumar in his presidential speech said the girl students studying in the Andro, facing problems can stay and get their education. Stating that women play an important role in shaping of a society and nation, the initiative will be given to upgrade the schools in the constituency.

Announcing that other development initiatives are being taken, he said under NEC funding dam will be constructed at Sarbei Lokchao which will provide water to the people as well has the potential to become a tourist site. He also announced that with central fund of Rs 3 crore floriculture project is taken up at Panam Garden and with central fund of Rs 6 crore other necessary projects are taken up at Santhei Natural Park in Andro.

He further announced that soon 2 roads will be constructed – Sarbei Laokchao-Takhel Road, Santhei Natural Park-Chiru Maring Road soon within 2 years. He said the State Government led by Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh focusing on development of ever sector on road, transport and communication, water, electricity, health and agriculture.

He also announced that infrastructure will constructed for the PHC Andro which has been upgraded to CHC. He sought public support so that more developmental work can be taken up in the constituency as well as in the State.
