Shyamkumar inaugurates new block of Yambem High School

IMPHAL, MARCH 4, 2018 (DIPR): Education is very much needed and important in this competitive world, this was stated by Forest and Environment Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar. He made the statement at the inauguration of a new block building of the Yambem High School, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East today.

In his inaugural speech as the chief guest, Th. Shyamkumar said, the new block building of the aided school was completed ahead of its target time because he believes that education needs to be imparted on time to the students. The students are the pillars of our future generation, he added.

Stating that there was fund constraint to rebuild the old damaged structure, he said the building was constructed under the project of Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP). Advising the students to be obedient and maintain discipline in life, he said it is also necessary for students to take part in other co-curricular activities.

Minister Shyamkumar appreciated Imphal East District Administration for quick response and timely action in taking up developmental projects/programme. He also appreciated the School Management Development Committee (Schools of Yambem, Block-B&C) for felicitating and giving respect to the retired and present teachers of the school.

Th. Chitra Devi, DC, Imphal East, speaking as the guest of honour said the new block building was constructed under the MsDP project of Ministry of Minority and Other Backward Classes, Government of India and implemented by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Imphal East.

She appreciated the efforts and dedication of Minister Th. Shyamkumar, also the local MLA and school management committee for quick completion of building ahead of schedule time. Expressing surprise, she said it is a proud moment for the District Administration as the building was completed despite complete release of funds by the Ministry.

Appreciating the efforts of Minister Th. Shyamkumar, she said it is his dedication and the locals that the Government schools are in such a strong position in Andro A/C. She stressed on the need for revival of Government schools in other constituencies.

She said she was pleased and overwhelmed to see how the retired and present teachers were shown respect in a traditional cultural way which is hard to see in this modern world. Wishing best wishes to the students of Class X appearing for board examination, she asked to uphold the traditional cultural values taught by the elders.

And students of Class X touch the feets of theor teachers . She said teachers need to impart education to the students through proper trainings which is at par with the modern day world. Students should be taught in a way so that they can stand on their feet, she added.

A 100-bedded girls hostel of the school is also under-construction which is built under the MsDP project.
