Joykumar Inaugurates Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility Centre

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 15, 2018:Deputy chief minister YumnamJoykumar Singh today inaugurated department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility Centre at Takyelpat in Imphal.

The centre which has been developed in collaboration with Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and built up in the office complex of Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) comprises a tissue culture laboratory, an exhibition hall and a green house.

Joykumar said, technologies which have been developed by BARC are very impressive and it will cater the needs mostly for rural population. He said, it is an encouraging step that BARC has done good research work and developing new innovations which can easily be applied for gainful purposes. Being a pioneering institute in the field of research, BARC has done a lot of research work not only in the field of atomic energy but also in various sectors like industries which will boost industrial growth in the country.

Technologies which have been developed so far should be disseminated to the people so that it can be applied in various fields, said the minister. He urged the agencies to train and share such technologies to young entrepreneurs and people so that they can be benefitted. It will also be helpful to uplift entrepreneurship development and also in bringing new heights in socio-economic development in the state, he added.

Head, TT&CD, BARC, Mumbai, S.K. Gupta, said, the primary aim of BARC is not only to provide energy requirements through atomic energy but also to develop spin of technologies which will be helpful in the development of the country.  He said soil testing, domestic water purifier, foldable solar dryer, vibro thermal disinfector, tissue culture and fluoride detection Kit facilities have been provided at the centre.

Secretary (S&T) Nidhi Kesarwani urged the concerned agencies to disseminate technologies and their uses to the people which are available in the centre.

Director of MASTEC Th. Surendranath Singh said four batches of training will be conducted in a calendar year to disseminate technologies available in the centre.

Entrepreneurs mostly from Bishnupur district participated among others in the inaugural function.
