Minister Kayiisii inaugurates residential quarters and town beautification drive

IMPHAL, April 19, 2018 (DIPR): Official residential quarters for the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Ukhrul ADC was inaugurated by Tribal Affairs & Hills and Fisheries Minister, Shri N. Kayiisii at Ukhrul today. The quarters are located near the ADC office which is in the heart of the town.

Later in the day, the TAH Minister also attended the launching function of “Ukhrul Town Beautification Drive” as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, N. Kayisii applauded Ukhrul Autonomous District Council for the noble initiative. Kayisii opined that maintaining physical and surrounding cleanliness is a reflection of internal cleanliness. The “Beautification drive of Ukhrul town” is a call for mass awareness and participation towards physical and internal progress and development.

Kayisii also commended the Ukhrul ADC for functioning smoothly. He also requested the Chairman to give equal opportunity to all members for good governance and development. Regarding the release of departmental funds, the minister maintained that funds are released in part to ensure compliance to prescribed standard and that the full funds will be released on fulfilment of prescribed conditions after due satisfactory performance.

According to ADC officials, the drive will focus on sanitation and proper waste management. The drive is a run up for the upcoming “2nd Shirui Festival” to be held in Ukhrul district. It is initiated solely by ADC without any external funding.

TAH Minister also inspected the construction of Ima/Women Market and the district hospital. The minister interacted with the hospital administration and assured to put up various matters raised by the administration concerning the development of the hospital to the Honourable CM and concerned Minister.

The function was also attended by Shri K. Leishiyo, MLA-Phungyar AC, Shri Khashim Vashum, MLA-Chingai AC, Chairman and Vice-Chairman and other ADC members, DC and SP of Ukhrul, DLOs, CSOs and other concerned public leaders.
