High efficiency led reading lamp and 7w bulb are ready for distribution to ADC’s and ZP’s : Ibomcha

Imphal, the 21st April, 2018 (DIPR): High Efficiency LED Reading Lamps and High Efficiency LED Bulb 7W  are ready for distribution to ADCs and Zilla Parishad under Integrated Rural Energy Progamme (IREP) Scheme. This was stated by Shri E. Ibocha Singh, Director of Science and Technology in a series of Press Conference held at DIPR, Moirangkhom today. The series of Press conference was organised by DIPR for Head of Departments for highlighting the activities and achievements of the departments under the Government of Manipur.

During 2017-18,  a total of 4960 numbers of High Efficiency LED Reading Lamp was sanctioned for distribution to 6(six) ADC’s in Manipur and another 11384 numbers of High Efficiency LED Bulb 7W was also sanctioned to provide to the rural beneficiaries of 6(six) Zilla Parishad. The LED’s would be distributed to the beneficiaries as part of the govt. programme ‘Go to the village’, added, the Director.

Upgradation for new Scientific exhibits was also taken up at Manipur Science Centre, Innovation Hub will also be added in this centre. As part of Science Popularization, one Astronomy Observation Centre with computerized Optical Telescope at Ngairambam, Imphal West under Sansaad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) scheme was taken up. A new Robotic Gallery for school students was also taken up at Manipur Science Centre.

Setting up of District Science Centre and Planetarium are being taken up in Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts  under 100% NEC  funding. The District Science centre would create Scientific temper among the people of the two district, especially among the younger generation of School and College students which is an essential part of development of the human resources. The department has set one year target for completion of these centres.

NEC has sanctioned Rs 802.00 lakhs and Rs 785.00 lakhs and so far released Rs 250.00 lakhs as 1st instalment for setting up of 2 nos. of  District Science Centre and Planetarium.

Under R&D and Bio-Technology programme scheme, 5(five) numbers of short term Research and Development projects of local relevance were also taken up and Financial Assistance supported to the scholars/Doctors of Educational Institutes like RIMS, JNIMS, NIT, MIT and Educational Institutes.

During 2017-18, a project for Development of Manipur Sign Languages for specific items of Manipur for hearing impaired persons through MANITRON was also taken up. A total of 20 nos. of Parabolic Dish Solar Cookers has been installed to Old Age Home, Children Home which were selected by Social Welfare Department.

The department of  Science and Technology has provided Grants-in-Aids to Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC) and Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC)

The Press conference was also attended by Shri R. K. Somorjit Singh, Sr Scientific Research Officer of the Science & Technology department.
