Project on floating fish cage launched

Churachandpur, April 23, 2018: The Stiner Initiative, a project by RUTAG IIT Bombay funded by ministry of development of north eastern region and implemented by north eastern region community resource management project (NERCORMP) on ‘Floating Fish Cage for Inland Aquaculture’ was inaugurated today by joint secretary (Minitry of DoNER), S.N. Pradhan at Mata Mualtam Village, Churachandpur District.

Director (Admn, NERCORMP), K Hrishikesh  Singh said this is the initiative to increase the population of the fishes to tenfold through practices of proper organic fishing. Delving on the issues of unethical fishing, he requested the Partner NGOs to come together to refrain from dynamite, battery and chemical fishing so that this initiative becomes successful.

The programme was attended by scientist F (Principal Scientific Adviser), Dr. Ketaki Bapat,   managing director (NERCORMP), Dr. ShailendraChaudhari,  DC Churachandpur, Shyam LalPoonia, SP Churachandpurand, Rakesh Balwal, district project director (NERCORMP), Khuala Vaiphei.
