KSA protest over appointment of non-state resident as college principal

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 24, 2018: Kangleipak Student’s Association (KSA) has demanded that the chairman and secretary of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) must resign under moral ground for appointing a non-state resident to the post of principal as against the MPSC criteria that the candidate must be a resident of Manipur.

Students spearheaded by KSA today staged a sit-in  against the appointment of the principal as against the MPSC rule.

President of the student body, Ningthoujam Chetan said KSA has been taking up various protests on the issue but the state failed to give proper response till now, he said. Under the notification of MPSC issued on November 9, 2017 Gopal Chandra Bag residence of Howrah, West Bengal was appointed as principal of NG college.

And he was selected against the mentioned criteria. He said if he fulfils the criteria then under which authority he was given permanent residential certificate (PRC) of the state. Gopal is staying in a rented house and to issue PRC the one must have registered land in the state.
