UCM reaffirms for integrity
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 29, 2018: United Committee Manipur’ new president and its office bearers reaffirms to stand for Manipur’s territorial integrity and fight those issues that challenges the integrity and unity of the people of different communities of the state.
The united committee today appointed 25 new office bearers for the term 2018-21. UCM is a citizens’ organisation formed to protect Manipur boundary.
The new president of UCM, Sunil Karam said, “My first task as a president is to strengthen the unity of the ethnic communities of the state. If the peace talk between the NSCN-IM and the government of India brings any outcome against the interest of Manipur, UCM will fight against it with the support of the people.
We have witnessed different statements on the Naga peace accord and the Framework agreement. The peace talk should not affect the territorial boundary and we will not allow marking land boundary on ethnic line, added Sunil.
Former president of the united committee, Johnson Elangbam said the coming up issue of setting up a territorial council in Manipur like the ‘Bodoland territorial council’ based on ethnic nomenclature administration cannot be made possible, we will oppose it. The central government and interlocutor RN Ravi should know that Manipur will be ignited if the government of India try to forcibly set up a territorial council, added Johnson.
Johnson expressed his confidence that people will support in challenging issues like the ‘Framework agreement’ to defend from possible impact to the integrity of Manipur.
