Dharmasala fruit market shattered
Imphal, May 2, 2018 : Student wing of Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit (JCILPS) students’ today shattered the fruit market located by Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary and High School, Dharmasala, Imphal .
The JCILPS on April 25 gave an ultimatum to vacate the vendors within three days. Since then the state police has been guarding the fruit market.
Around three hundred students stormed from different direction and scattered the fruits piled at the stalls. The street was spotted with fruits ranging from apples to grapes.
A city police team detained around 30 students including convenor of JCILPS students’ wing, Manjit Sarangthem at the police station for inquiry.
Manjit said Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary and High School and other civil society organisations had appealed to remove the fruit vendors from the foot path, but, the appeal was useless.
