Happy Valley residents condemns killing

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 10, 2018: Residents of Happy Valley, Langol Tarung area, Imphal West on Sunday protested killing of a labourer and injuring another when a masked man fired at them while they were in front of a grocery shop on Saturday.

The incident took place in the evening along the inter village road of Langol Tarung near Rongmei Naga Baptist Church, Lamphel.

The deceased was identified as Montu Paswan, 20, son of  Rajiram Paswan of Motihari Bihar. He was hit at the belly. The injured person was identified as Chandan Paswan 19, son of Ranjit Paswan of Motihari Bihar got bullet injury at the right thigh.

According to the villagers the gunman shot them at close range in the midst of many customers who were shocked and panic stricken trying to escape for their lives.

“We condemn the firing and we take it as disregard of the residents here. Such action should not be repeated. It is an act against humanity. These innocent people from Bihar are here working to feed their elders and family,” said Panti Golmei, social activist.

The protestors demanded to book and punish the culprit. They appeal the government to provide security in the area saying that criminal offences are often centred at this area, for which they are ready to extend maximum cooperation to law enforcing agencies.

They also demanded to compensate in favour of the victims.
