Grenade found on director’s table

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 29, 2018: One Chinese hand grenade was today found on the table in the office of director of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ranjan Yumnam.

Speaking to media persons, peon of the department, H. Ngouba said as daily routine he open the office of director at around 7.30 am so that sweepers can clean up the room. He said according to the sweeper one stranger came when she was about to clean the office.

Ngouba said when he went inside the office of director to take a file he saw the bomb placed on the table of director at around 12.25 pm. The staff informed the incident to police and Imphal west police team came.

At the entrance gate F/32 battalion CRPF has been deputed for security measures for the last few years back.

Abomb squad team picked up the grenade which was inside a black polythene bag placed on a sheet of paper written “last warning KCP”.

According to the officials it is said that the director was out of station for some official purpose and the peon was not aware that director was out of station so he opened the office chamber.
