The VDF personnel have been taking up the cease work strike since July 11.

We will continue our cease work strike till July 25. If the strike remain ineffective we will impose 48 hours general strike across the state from the midnight of July 25till midnight of July 27, said Md. Riaz Khan, spokesperson of the welfare association.

All Manipur VDF Welfare Association on Saturday organized its general conference at Changangei Airport community hall to decide what forms of agitation would be taken up to get their demand to increase their pay scale.

About 4,300 VDF personnel took part at the conference. After the conference they came out on the airport road to demonstrate in chain.

As the government has deaf ear to our demand we gather today to take a decision, said Riaz.

There are 10,050 VDF personnel serving in all the districts of the state.

He said if the government fails to respond during the 48 hours general strike we will launch 5 days blockade along the national highways in Manipur from themidnight of July 27.

If the government further fails to fulfil our demand we will take up stringent forms of agitations, he added.
