Customs seizes gold in rods, worth Rs. 79, 90,114

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 25, 2018: A team of anti-smuggling unit, Customs Division, Imphal today has seized 16 gold rods coated with silver weighing 2,651 grams and has in connection apprehended two individual of Punjab origin.

According to official the seized gold are valued around Rs. 79,90,114.

The arrested individuals identified as Gurpreet Singh and Jograj are arrested from Khuyathong traffic point, Imphal after the team of customs get a reliable information of smuggling of illegal gold of foreign origin in that area.

Officials of customs said the gold rods were recovered from the hidden compartment of two stroller bags.

It was planned to ferry the gold  to Delhi.
