Education minister assures of more teachers’ post
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 28, 2018: Manipur education minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the new recruitment process for lecturers of higher secondary school is being carried out on priority basis especially for English and Manipuri language due to acute shortage of teachers of these subjects.
There have been complaints for not creating posts in Thang-Ta and Philosophy disciplines.
The government has been on process to recruit 688 higher secondary school teachers in 22 disciplines, for which receiving of applications ended on Friday.
Radheshayam said recruitment of lecturers for specific disciplines will be evaluated to process the intake of lecturers on certain disciplines. He sought support and coordination from the people and assured that the government is trying its best for the betterment of education sector.
The minister was speaking at the felicitation ceremony of rank holders and subject toppers of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, a government school in Imphal, held at the school campuson Saturday.
The minister gave away the certificates and mementos to the students of the school for their achievements in various categories. He appreciated the kind gesture of the sponsors, the Johnstone Higher Secondary School, 1964 Matric Batch Welfare Association and the Class of 1999 Batch of the school for their act of encouraging the young minds for their achievement. He urged the teachers to mentor and guide the students instead of setting limits and becoming very demanding.
Radheshyam said getting a job is a very nominal part of education. Education should be imparted to make oneself learn to analyze the problems and find solutions for betterment of all. There are many lessons that can be learnt only from the experiences of life and education should be a means to prepare to face the challenges thrown in life. The students, he added are the future pillar and must be instilled with values and morals to enable them to progress in life by virtue of goodness.
Kalachand Shastri Award was conferred to the Higher Secondary Examination, 2018, toppers of the school in three streams – arts, science and commerce. Special awards was also presented to Pishochandra Yumnam for his achievement Science meet 2018 for his science model Automated Poultry Feeding Machine’ and Thiyam Nandalal Singh for his Robot JON17.
