Wrestling medalist felicitated
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 12, 2018: Laishram Sayon Meitei, silver medalist of World Cadet Wrestling Championship, 2018, held in Croatia during July 2-8 was felicitated in Welcome Home Party ceremony organized by Young Brilliant Club at Ngarouthel Community Hall, Heirok, today.
Education, labour and employment minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that sports and education should be an integral part of life for the youths. He stressed that sports with education and hard work can bring more opportunities.
Congratulating Laishram Sayon Meitei for his achievement, he said it is indeed a very proud moment for the Manipuri and people of Heirok. The minister expressed that he will bring more laurels to the State and the country. He said that if one stays focused towards their goal in life then there is nothing that can stop them from achieving success. The minister also emphasized on the importance of education to become an achiever.
Radheshyam added that to live a meaningful and happy life it is important to maintain a healthy mind and body. He stressed that games and sports is a means through which young and old can stay fit and healthy.
Born in 2001, Laishram Sayon Meitei has been trained as a wrestler from a very young age. He was trained at SAI Imphal and got selected at Nasik Army Boys. He had participated in several national as well as international championships such as Asian Championship 2018 also.
Radheshyam who is also an MLA of the Heirok constituency said that a playground, library and leisure park for the senior citizens and youths will be developed. He added that a 100 (hundred) bedded hostel for the Heirok Higher Secondary school will also be constructed.
