Vehicles set ablaze on NH-37
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 16 2018: At least five vehicles were set ablaze by suspected bandh supporters at Kaiphundai area in Tamenglong district along the Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37) today.
Two of the vehicles burnt were passenger vehicles heading towards Jiribam, while three were goods loaded trucks heading towards Imphal.
Zeliangrong Baudi and Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland) and the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU) imposed 24 hours bandh in the Zeliangrong areas in Manipur with effect from Wednesday midnight against alleged failure on the part of governments of India and Manipur to book NSCN (I-M) cadres allegedly involved in the abduction of leaders of the ZYF and Zeliangrong students.
They demanded to arrest Sangailung Pamei, central administrative officer, Zeliad region, Thailik alias Joel Rongmei, deputy Kilonser and Khangdi Kamei, captain of the NSCN/GPRN (I-M) who are involved in abduction and held captive of the youth and students’ leaders on August 4 at Tamenglong district headquarters.
A statement of the Zeliangrong Civil Organisation said that while its leaders are facing serious threat and intimidation from the NSCN (I-M), some individuals are being misused to be the “mouthpiece” of the underground outfit in the guise of students’ organizations – called “Rongmei Students Organisation Manipur” and “Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi”.
