Mangi joined BJP Manipur Pradesh on February 5 last year and he declared his resignation from BJP membership on June 8 this year.

He said it was a mistake to choose BJP as it was against his supporters.

Mangi was associated with thousands of his supporters when he came to take part in the felicitation function.

“This is just a beginning; many are joining Congress in the near future and ahead of 2019 parliamentary election,” said CLP leader and former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh.

Mangi was the right person in the wrong party when he joined BJP. CPI and Congress were partners and likeminded parties who believe in secularism, he added.

Former deputy chief minister Gaikhangam said ,“Let’s try to come together to free people for the jaws of evils,” he added.

Vibhishana left his brother Ravana and Lanka for truth and humanity. Today’s event is similar to this part of Ramayana. In 2019 election Congress and allies will win. , said Gaikhangam.

Mangi said it is impossible to fight BJP without Congress. Recently eleven political parties including Congress have formed an alliance committee to fight the BJP. The present government does not have a name, said Mangi.
