Ima Apunba Lup attempts to storm at Raj Bhawan

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 21, 2018: A women group spearheaded by Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) took out a rally from Kwakeithel towards Raj Bhawan demanding a special Assembly session to resolve for protection of the state’s integrity from the outcome of the Naga framework agreement.

The rally took out under the aegis of the United Committee Manipur.

Police block them about 200 meters ahaeadof  Raj Bhawan. Six representatives of NIMPAL led by its president, Th. Ibeyaima were allowed to meet governor, Najma Heptulla and submitted a memorandum.

NIMPAL secretary general S. Santileima said the high chance of extending the Article 371 (A) in the state for giving special status to Naga community settling in Manipur has brought a big apprehension to the people of the state.

Forcibly trying to implement the Article 371 (A), sixth scheduled or any other similar Act in the state will only bring chaos in the state, said Ibeyaima.

“MLAs and ministers should omit the idea of mortgaging and selling the land for their seats. They should hold an Assembly session to take oath of safeguarding the state’s integrity. The state legislatures, in the interest of the people and the state, should resign as a true leader if the Centre declines to protect Manipur’s integrity,” she added.

Organisations in Manipur have been opining that extension of the Article in Manipur to settle Naga peace talk would mean creation of a Naga state within Manipur.
