Congress asks to fulfill NSCN-IM demand

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 29, 2018: Manipur PCC has asked the Central government to give away the demand of the NSCN-IM if it is not going to hurt the sentiment of any community as claimed by BJP leaders.

The central leaders and state leaders have been claiming that there is nothing in the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement to affect the integrity of Manipur and other neighbouring states. If so, why is the government taking so long to announce the agreement signed in the Framework Agreement? Why is the government keeping the agreement concealed to make Naga anxious? Why are the people of Manipur worried over the Naga issue? BJP is either cheating the NSCN-IM or cheating the people of Manipur through signing of the Framework Agreement said spokesperson of MPCC Kh. Joykishan addressing in a news conference at MPCC office today.

The framework agreement was signed on August 3, 2015 between the Naga rebel group and the government of India to settle the years’ long demand by the group.

The BJP is trying to appease both sides with false assurances in the name of bringing peace. It is the game plan of BJP to create enmity and tension between the Naga rebel group and people of Manipur, said Joykishan.

This will not last long. People will come to know of it by December ahead of the functioning of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct.

The MPCC slams BJP led governments both at the Centre and in the state for diverting the ‘real’ problems being faced by people due to governance failure. The reality is diverted by creating chaos in Manipur with issues of Naga accord, border dispute and Manipur University.

The BJP is creating chaos in Manipur in many ways like that of the Manipur University and border pillar issues so as to divert the mind of people from reality of people’s life, he added. Prices of everyday use commodities like LPG, petrol, diesel, have gone up so as the prices of construction inputs cement, iron rods. The BJP governance has made the people suffer. No commodity remains cheap after GST is imposed, added the spokesperson.

MLA Ak. Mirabai said the price of LPG cylinder was just Rs 400 and it has reached Rs 907. BJP deceives people under Ujjwala scheme without providing subsidy to beneficiaries. And proposals made by congress for the scheme beneficiaries are not accepted, she added.

“There is no commodity which price does not rise. The BJP governance legalised taxes as the government does not have money to run the state and the nation,” said Joykishan.

BJP should know that the supporters of BJP also suffer due to their failure in governance, he added.

The MPCC demanded to bring down the prices of essential commodities and cautioned to launch agitation with people against BJP governments.

Development is at standstill. The construction of mini secretariat building which was scheduled to inaugurate by the Prime Minister during his visit here has remained incomplete. The market shed construction at the Tombisana school site does not progress. Is it because that the constructions were started during Congress government, said Joykishan.

The PCC members claimed that there is no place in Manipur where there is regular electric power supply, for which consumer pays on pre-paid basis. It also charged that road connectivity has not been development. “What would be the condition in remote hill areas if the development is so bad in Imphal,” said Joykishan.
