Plea to appoint RIMS regular director
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 30, 2018: All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation has appealed to appoint a regular director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at the earliest.
The organisation secretary S. Sumati in a news conference held at its Singjamei office said as the institute is run under a director-in-charge, it gives innumerable disadvantages in the smooth functioning of the institute. The organisation optioned for a native director.
She said the regular director of Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) has not been appointed till today despite the directive of the Supreme Court dated May 7, directing the competence authority to finalise the selection of the regular director and make the appointment based on the existing recruitment rule.
On January 13 the DPC for the appointment of the regular director was conducted however a petition was filed at the High Court of Manipur praying for cancelling the said DPC and to conduct a new DPC after revising the recruitment rules. As a result the result of the DPC remained pending.
Later some of the candidates who participated in the said DPC challenged the petition and prayed for swift declaration of the DPC result. As a result the apex court has approved for appointment of a regular director based on the existing recruitment rule.
Moreover on July 3 the Medical Council of India wrote a letter regarding the terms and conditions of selecting the regular director post of RIMS under Medical Institution Regulations, 1998.
Sumati said running the regional medical institute without regular director is against the directive of the apex court.
