Students confront police trying to storm pro VC’s residence

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 6, 2018: Large number of volunteers of joint students’ body today stormed Manipur University pro vice-chancellor K. Yugindro residence denouncing his keenness to the HRD ministry which terms the agitators at Manipur University as “Terrorist”.

On hearing the news of the students trying to storm Yugindro’s residence, a team of Imphal East Police rushed at the spot and halted the students near Yugindro’s resident at Wangkhei Thangapat.

After few minutes of confrontation between the student agitators and the police team, the police team fired rounds of tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the students’ agitators and in return to the police firing the students’ agitators pelted stones towards the police team.

Later, the police team was able to take control of the situation.

Some of the students’ agitators were also picked up by the police team and were taken and detained at Porompat police station in Imphal East.
