Congress terms Judiciary intervention in MU crisis as defeat of Legislature

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 12, 2018: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has claimed that the intervention of the judiciary in the varsity crisis for a solution is due to the failure of the Executive and the Legislature.

Former vice-chancellor of Manipur University and Congress executive member Ng. Bijoy said the intervention of the judiciary over the failure of the state and central governance is shameful.   The PCC demanded the Union HRD minister to step down on moral ground.

MLA K. Ranjit, spokesperson of MPCC said the state government and the Union HRD minister could not solve the varsity crisis that crossed more than 130 days. The MPCC demanded the Union HRD minister to step down.

The MPPC demanded to release the arrested varsity teachers and the students as the pro vice-chancellor K.Yugindro appointed by professor Adya Prasad Pandey (suspended vice-chancellor) had admitted that ‘the charges he had made against them were false’.

Veteran politician O. Joy talking to reporters at his residence in Imphal said, “I feel that this university has been liberated.”

Shiv Sena Manipur unit has also expressed contentment on the appointment of Jarnail Singh as Manipur University administrator. It demanded to release the arrested varsity students and also demanded to revoke the suspension of some varsity teachers by Yugindro.
