UNLF lady member arrested

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 18, 2018: A team of Imphal West police commando and a column of 15 Assam Rifles today conducted a cordoned search operation at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Awang Leikai and arrested a lady, Laishram Sangeeta, 42, wife of Laisharam Amarjit Singh of Lamboi Khongnangkhong Awang Leikai from the residence.

The lady disclosed that she is an active member of UNLF and working under the command of Panthoibi who is at present staying in Myanmar and self style major Umakanta of UNLF, said superintendent of Imphal West Police H. Jogeschandra during a news conference today.

During the search of the house one black polythene containing Rs 2, 31,000 was recovered inside the Almirah of Sangeeta’s bedroom. She revealed that the money is party (UNLF) fund which is to be used for the upcoming Rising Day of UNLF and to be distributed to the families of the deceased and the cadres of UNLF. She disclosed that the sum of money was handed over to her by one unknown person sent by Panthoibi through Umakanta. She was arrested at the spot and seized the money along with a mobile handset and two sim cards, said the police officer.

He said Sangeeta is a member of a civil organisation and appealed that those who are working in civil society organisations not to involve in such activities
