100 percent subsidy to deserving farmers

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 2, 2018: Manipur chief minister today said his government is planning to provide 100 percent subsidy to those deserving farmers on providing loans and procurement of machineries.

A new policy for the welfare of the farmers would be announced soon, added the chief minister while addressing at the Agriculture Equipments Exhibition and launching of ‘Rabi Campaign 2018’ at Haotal, Pangei in Imphal East, organised by department of agriculture and Manipur Farm Enterprise Private Limited.

He said the launching of Rabi campaign would have positive impact on Manipur economy. “I would personally monitor the updates and improvement of the initiative every week,” he added.

He said the government, private agencies and farmers need to work collectively to increase agricultural and allied products.

The government is working tirelessly to uplift the lives of the people and to bring positive changes in the state. It is the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double farmers’ income by 2022 in the country. Initiative like this would definitely boost Manipur economy, he added.

Biren urged the government officials to work with transparency and sincerity so that these people would be benefited by various government schemes.

Minister for agriculture V. Hangkhanlian said there are around 2.34 lakh hectares of cultivable land available in the state. “We must find solutions for the optimal usage of large unused land.”
