One UNLF cadre arrested

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 11, 2018: A team of Imphal East police has arrested one cadre of proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) identified as Shantikumar Meitei, 45, son of late Sapam Mani Meitei, resident of Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai.

He was arrested from his residence during a cordon and search operation that was conducted on Tuesday acting on an information of presence of some cadres of UNLF loitering in the Keibi area said press statement released by W. Basu Singh, superintendent of police/ NAB PRO.

On spot verification he disclosed that he is an active cadre of UNLF presently working under the command of self style Major Ningtam of the organisation. He disclosed that he joined the organisation in the year 1993 and completed his military basic training Chumu, Mynanmar under the army number 571 of 13th batch of UNLF. He is presently holding the rank of second lieutenant of the organisation, said the release.

It said Shantikumar revealed that he had threatened to assault and kill the surrendered cadres of underground outfits and their family on the advice of self styled chief of army Pambeiba of ULNF.

A case has been registered at Sagolmang Police station and investigation is going on, said the release.
