Police officer posted in SIT arrested for involvement in drug racket

Imphal, December 11: Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Manipur has arrested a deputy superintendent of police Takhellambam Bangkabihari Singh for involvement in drug trafficking.

Bangkabihari is presently posted in Special Investigation Team (SIT), Manipur. He is a resident of Uripok Achom Leikai.

He was arrested at 5: 15 am today from Uripok Kangchup road nearby near Heritage Convent School, Imphal, said a press statement released by superintendent of police/ NAB PRO.

The police officer was arrested as disclosed by one accused Khumujam Robindro, 46, who was arrested by NAB on October 28 with two kilos of Heroin brown sugar from Konung Mamang in Imphal East.

Robindro is a resident of Mayang Imphal Konchak Makha Leikai, Imphal West.

During the course of investigation, Robindro who is now in judicial custody disclosed that he received information that his friend Bangkabihari has some kilos of heroin brown sugar with him at Jiribam Police station, said the press statement.

They had several meetings at Jiribam and Imphal after the confirmation of drug in possession of Bangkabihari. Later Bangkabihari brought two kilos of the brown sugar and delivered to Robindro at his residence on October 16 for disposal, the statement added.
