Customs seizes Rs. 20,00,000 worth WINCIREX Syrup

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 2, 2019: Officers of Anti Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal seized codeine based cough syrup WINCIREX that would worth Rs. 20,00,000  on New Year’s Day at around 11 am near Ball Lampak, Naoremthong Khulem Leikai, Imphal West.

Modoli Daso, assistant commissioner, Customs Division, Imphal said that the seized cough Syrup was detected inside 200 boxes concealed by 100 bags of biri and some other medicine packets transported by 6-wheel TATA truck bearing registration number MN01-9039.

The driver of the truck, identified as one Aheibam Surchandra Singh, about 50 years, son of (late) Aheibam Jugindro Singh of Saiton of Bishnupur, under Moirang Police station has been arrested along with the seizure of the TATA truck under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act, 1985, the release said.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to nab the other offender(s), it added.
