MPP protests against Citizenship bill

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 14, 2019: Manipur Peoples’ Party (MPP) today took out a rally in Imphal protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed in Lokshabha on January 7.

MPP president Oinam Jugindro Singh said MPP always stands against the controversial bill. The bill should not be accepted by Rajya Sabha. It will give a huge blow to the indigenous people of the North East states as the bill seeks to legalize shelter to the non-indigenous people from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The rally led by Jugindro was set off from MPP office turned back from the Congress Bhawan gate as a team of police prohibited the rally.

The protestors raised slogans against the rally.
