More rescued from trafficking

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 2, 2019: Manipur police today rescued another 70 victims of human trafficking from Manipur after 101 girls were rescued yesterday.

They are mostly from Nepal.

Twenty of them including 15 boys and 5 girls from Nepal were rescued from the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh while 50 including 13 boys were rescued from hotels and rented houses surrounding the Imphal Airport.

In the police operation at Moreh a kingpin in the trafficking was arrested. He was identified as Madan Kumar Kharel, 52, a resident of Prithvinagar, Jhapa of Nepal.

He was allegedly involved in trafficking 20 girls out of the 40 Nepal girls who were rescued from Moreh yesterday. Sixty-one girls mostly Nepali were rescued from a hotel at Keishampat here yesterday.
