Blast in Imphal injures 4

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 7, 2019: Twin blast at Imphal Pologround injured three Assam Rifles personnel and a juice selker this evening at 6:15 pm.

The three Assam Rifles personnel were identified as Bipin Naat, Chaman Naat and Prajapati. The juice seller was identified as Anil Kumar from Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak, Imphal.

The injured persons were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh visited the hospital.

Talking to reporters he said the incident was unfortunate and the government will investigate over the blast in cooperation with the state police and the Assam Rifles. He said there might be lack of coordination between the Assam Rifles and the state police.
Such blast has been reduced comparing to past years, Biren said.

The blasts took place consecutively at the gate of the pologround while the Assam Rifles personnel were preparing for an equestrian championship to begin on February 11.

Biren said he condemns the blast in the strongest term. “Had there were encounter many would have been injured, said Biren saying that the place, in the heart of Imphal city, is a crowded area.
