Search operation after blast, UNLF claims

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 8, 2019: Following twin blast that occurred yesterday evening at Imphal Pologround cordon and search operation was conducted at the periphery area of pologround.

The blast injured three Assam Rifles personnel and one civilian.

Today at about 6 to 7.30 the search operation was conducted by combined team of Imphal West police commando and 6AR. During the operation about 320 persons including male and females were verified. Out of which 11 persons who failed to bring out their identification documents were detained and handed over to City Police for further verification.

Later in the evening at about 2 pm to 2.45 pm combine team of commando bazar unit and City Police conducted search operation along the stretch of Paona market near Usha cinema hall. In the search operation about 460 persons were verified and out of which 33 persons who were not able to bring out identification documents were handed over to City police for further verification.

Proscribe United National Liberation Front has claimed responsible of the blast stating that it was conducted by its Manipur People’s Army (MPA).

In a statement it stated that the attack was done cautiously not to harm the civilians but only towards the security personnel.

It praised the cadres for the “successful” attack towards Assam Rifles personnel without harming the public.
