4 KCP-PWG cadres arrested

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 21, 2019: A combined team of Imphal West police commando and a column of 6 Assam Rifles has arrested four cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party People- War Group (KCP-PWG) in connection with the planting of IED at the southern gate of Catholic School, Canchipur on February 14.

Superintendent of police Imphal West, H. Jogeshchandra in a news conference held today evening said during the course of investigation join commando and 6 AR team arrested one Sanabam Gunajit on February 16, who served as an active member of KCP-PWG and had been arrested three times in connection with other incident.

Yesterday while frisking and checking at Takyel Khongbal the team arrested one Sagolsem Sanatomba alias Sanajaoba, 30, son of S. Sohodeva Singh of Langthabal Moirang Leikai, Thoubal. During interrogation Sanatomba disclosed that the IED was planted under the instruction of one Mani who is one of the active cadres of the group. Sanatomba also disclosed that the IED was taken from Gunajit and he along with Mani planted the IED at 1.30 am of February 14, the officer added.

He aid the IED was planted under the command of Sanabam Gunajit.

One mobile handset, 2 demand letter of the proscribed organisation and one Honda Activa, blue in colour which was used to carry the said IED were recovered.

The team arrested other two cadres of the proscribe organisation who are identified as Sanabam Sanajaoba Mangang,28, son of Dabaljit Mangang of Uripok Kombirei Keithel and Heisnam Kirankumar Singh alias Noinao, 28, son of H. Sanahal Singh of Moirang Khoiru Leikai at present he is staying at Khuyathong Polem Leikai.

Sanabam Sanajaoba and Heisnam Kiran were arrested yesterday at 9 pm from Lamphel Exchange Punshi Leikai.

Police recovered one mobile handset, 29 demand letters including 1 blank page of KCP-PWG from the possession of Sanajaoba. Another mobile handset, 0.32 pistol along with one magazine and 23 live bullets of 0.32 which was handed over by Gunajit, one Bajaj Discover mortorcycle marron in colour bearing were also recovered from the possession of Kirankumar.

Jogeshchandra cautioned the underground organisations not to repeat such act in the future. He also appealed the groups not to interfere in school matter and not to demand admission quota for the organisations at the time of admission at mission schools like Little Flower School, Nirmalabas school, St. Joshep and Catholic school.

He said police are tracinh for Mani who was still absconding.
