Kaiku happy with people’s support
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 12, 2019: “The appearance of large crowd in my flag hoisting ceremony proves how much people support me. It is out of my expectation and I feel that I am towards achieving success,” Manipur screen star RK Somendro who is popular as Kaiku said.
Kaiku is contesting in the Lok Sabha election from Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
His flag hoisting ceremony was conducted at his residence in presence of his supporters attended by film fraternity.
After the flag hoisting ceremony a public rally was organised at Thangmeiband Athletic Union’s ground in Imphal.
Thousands of people thronged to gather at the public rally.
“We support Kaiku, because he is young and energetic who promises for a change in Manipur by bringing welfare for the youth, women and the old-aged persons,” a youth in the rally said.
“My first target is to settle border issues of Manipur. I will oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill and take up steps to solve various problems in the state,” Kaiku said.
He said the best candidate is the one who understands the sentiments of the people and who would work for the welfare of the people and work to settle the issues of the people.
Kaiku also promises not to compromise with the integrity of state, put maximum effort to repeal Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, restore special category status of Manipur, to earn ST status and Indigenous people’s rights, youth empowerment with special status on information technology, service sector and home based industries, and economic boost for women, senior citizens, farmers and differently-abled persons.
He also promises to stand firm against corruption and also to encourage diaspora for the development of Manipur.
“I want to prove that one can fight and win election without using money and muscle power. I have been a screen hero, today I want to be a Real Hero for Manipur people,” Kaiku said.
Kaiku entered in the Manipuri Cenema in 2003 and appeared in hundreds of films. He was also a Shumang Leela artiste and starred in numbers of music videos.
Kaiku is contesting as an independent candidate against 10 candidates.
Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency goes to poll on April 18.
Total voters for Inner Manipur is 928626.
