Storm kills three women

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 15, 2019: Thunderstorm took away lives of three women while about 40 people including 30 students were injured this morning.

Two of the women identified as Nemdom, 74, and Chenkholhai, 50 died at T Munjang village in Churachandpur when a house where they were sheltering collapsed.

The third woman identified as Yengkhom Nungsitombi, 56, died at Kakching Wairi Senapati Leikai when a banyan tree fell on her.

The students were injured when a building collapsed at Kwakta. They are reportedly out of danger.

There were reports of destruction of houses in different parts of the state.

At Thanga in Bishnupur makeshift of a public meeting was destroyed by the storm.

Chief electoral officer, Manipur PK Singh has intimated the ECI of the storm that resulted to loss of lives and property so that emergency measures can be taken up as per the election model code of conduct.
