DESAM campaigns for ‘disturbance free education zone’

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 28, 2019: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur  (DESAM) on Friday launched awareness campaign for on “Disturbance free educational zone demand’.

DESAM and like minded stakeholders have been campaigning since the past several years so that education sector faces no disturbances of any form, vice-president of DESAM  Edison said.

The student organisation has been campaigning for disturbance free education zone since 2008.

Today we resume the interaction programme with students for this year as we did in the past, said the student leader.

DESAM volunteers shared ideas with the students in classes on the reason of the  campaign for undisturbed education zone. “This will be continued throughout the year. It will be organised at public places too”, he added.

The student body team interacted with students at various schools including Extra Edge, Mexico, Little Flowers and Comet.

A class XII Science student of Comet, Memthoi Laishram said, “If there is inconsistency in attending classes because of disturbances in educational institutions we will not be able to get the knowledge required of being future pillars. We need to understand the disturbances and we must defend from them so that we get good education.”

“If there is good governance there will be good education system,” she added.

“Bandhs, blockades and force shutting down of schools by different  militant groups are the major hindrances to the academic atmosphere. Education sector should not be disturbed,” said Edison.
