Liquor worth over Rs 20 lakh seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 14, 2019: A combined team of Patsoi police and Narcotics Affairs and Border (NAB) seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) including beer worth Rs. 20.9 lakhs and disposed on Sunday with local Meira Paibis at the complex of the police station.

The liquors was seized on Friday at about 9.20 pm by the team in front of Patsoi police station from a truck bearing registration number MN01Q 2056.

The name of the truck driver is Phanjoubam Dhanabanta Singh, 47, son of Ph. Khogendro Singh of Andro.

The seized liquors included  205 cases of Mc Dowel whisky, 88 cases of Old Monk rum, 50 cases of Tuborg beer, 178 cases of Kingfisher beer, 20 cases of Magic Moment vodka, 5 cases of Romanov vodka and 74 cases of OC Blue whisky altogether 620 cases were recovered from the truck which was filled along with biscuits and other edible items.

Dhanabanta was produced before CJM, Imphal West and released him on bail. And the duty magistrate, Imphal West order to dispose the liquors in presence of local Meira Paibis, local clubs and media.

The liquors were disposed inside Patsoi police station complex.

The truck was tracked from Keithelmanbi and seized in front of Patsoi police station. The owner of the consignment is yet to be revealed.

The combined team was led by DSP, Premanandi Okram with her team along with NAB, officer in charge, B. Rishikesh and his team.
