Khurai people calls off Indefinite general strike
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 16, 2019: People organisations of Khurai assembly constituency including JAC against bomb blast at Khurai Sajor Leikai has called off its indefinite general strike which was to be launched from 6am of July 17.
Convener of JAC against bomb blast at Khurai Sajor Leikai, Ch. Usharanjan in a press conference held on Tuesday said the six local bodies including Fair price shop committee, JAC against the bomb blast at Khurai Sajor Leikai, Khurai Kendra Development Committee, Islamic Development Association, Khomidok Social Development Club and Khomidok Development Association Meira Paibi called indefinite general strike from 6 am of July 17 demanding to distribute 5-month pending rice which is to be distributed under National Food Security Act if it is not distributed by July 16.
He said the general strike has been called off as local bodies and contractors association food and civil supply have brought to a solution after negotiation.
President of contractors’ association food and civil supply, N. Momon has assured to distributed 5-month’s rice by July end where three months will be distributed on Wednesday at the respective fair price shops of the constituency, Usharanjan said.
He appreciated contractors’ association food and civil supply for taking action in time.
Khurai MLA Susindro appreciated contractors’ association food and civil supply for timely action for the welfare of the people of the assembly constituency in a press conference held at his residence at Khurai Sajor Leikai.
He said it is a big responsibility for contractors’ association food and civil supply for giving assurance to distribute the pending rice of Khurai.
He gave his regards to the people who support the movement. Susindro assured the people of the state that Khurai Assembly Constituency is always ready to give any sort of assistance when needed.
He clarified that people have been wrongly propagating that Khurai MLA had misused the deputed rice for beneficiaries. He assured that the pending PDS rice will also be distributed soon.
