Babysana case handed to CBI, police continue investigation

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 28, 2019: The case of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Students N. Babysana’s death incident was handed to CBI on Saturday.

Though the case was handed over to CBI state police will continue investigation to find solve the mystery, said inspector general of police, Clay Khongsai in a press conference held on Sunday at Imphal West police office hall.

Clay said the investigation is continuing in right direction. Police has been giving maximum effort during investigation to find out the fact of the mystery. As requested from the “Joint Action Committee against the mysterious death of N. Babysana Chanu” and victim family autopsy of the decease has been conducted two times where one post mortem expert was included from JAC side with the consent of government, he added.

Two wardens of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary school, Canchipur has been already under judicial custody and further interrogation has been conducting with 36 roommates who stayed in the dormitory where Babysana was allegedly found hanging to death, he added.

Police has seized necessary evidence as a part of the procedure of investigation. The case was hand over to CBI on Saturday and took time to hand over to CBI as police added 302 U/S IPC over 305 U/S IPC. Before the case was filed as unknown death but as the case is critical section 302 IPC was added, Clay said.

Being the decease as juvenile the case might affect juvenile justice act or Protection of Children from Sexual Assault (POCSO). If the case attracts those then police will take step as per J.J. act or POCSO act, he added.

He said the state police has already set up Special Investigating Team (SIT) lead by additional superintendent of police, Imphal West and proper investigation has been continuing under legal procedure.

Necessary action will be taken up against those who have been trying to mislead the case through social media, he warned.
