Two drug peddlers arrested with drugs worth Rs 10 lakhs

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 23, 2019: Two drug peddlers were arrested with Rs 10 lakhs worth WY (World is Yours) tablets from Kiyamgei by Imphal East narcotic cell on Friday afternoon by Imphal East narcotic cell.

The peddlers have been identified as Huidrom Rajen Singh, 47, son of (L) H. Udoi Singh of Canchipur near cinema hall and Maimom Bajanta Singh son of (L) Mohori Singh of Bashikhong Maimom Leikai.

Superintendent of police, Imphal East, Jogeshchandra Haobijam told reporters that the two were arrested following frisking and checking around Kiyamgei Karate hall at about 2.30 pm.

During the operation Rajen was detained under suspicion along with 50 small packets black in colour. Each of the packets was found containing 200 tablets its, he added.

Rajen revealed that Bajanta told him to arrange for delivery at Guwahati on August 22 along with a sum of Rs. 6000. The same police team detained Bajanta at Sagolband Moirang Leirak parking area today at about 3.30 pm, said the senior police officer.

Bajanta also revealed the police that one Md. Anup, 46, of Lilong Turen Ahanbi handed over the tablets to him along with Rs 10,000 at Manipur University, Canchipur main gate. He told police that the tablets were later handed over to Rajen for delivery.

One mobile phone (G-Five), airtel SIM bearing number 6909576419 and one Aadhar card were seized.

The peddlers along with the seizures have been handed over to Irilbung police station for necessary action and a case has been registered, said Jogeshchandra.
