Anglo-Kuki War centenary

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 10, 2019: Anglo-Kuki War Centenary Commemoration Committee (AKWCCC) under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) is organising its celebration at C. Aisan village, Saikul sub-division, Kangpokpi district on October 17 in commemoration with Anglo-Kuki War Centenary.

It was state by vice-president of KIM, Hemjathang Khongsai during a press conference held on Wednesday at its head office located at Kuki Inn, here.

He said the centenary is being observed to pay tribute to the Kuki war patriots of Anglo-Kuki War 1917-1919 against the British imperialism for freedom of Manipur. In honour of the departed soul memorial stones are laid at various places with words inscribed “In defence of our ancestor land and freedom,” he added.

He said people need to analyse history of Manipur so that peace could be brought among the ethnic communities of Manipur.

He appealed to the people and civil bodies to support the observation. Various civil bodies from hills and valleys will be attending the observation to show unity among the communities, he added
