Police vandalise encroached shops in Imphal city
Pothashang New Service: Imphal, 18 October 2019: Imphal police vandalised encroached shop portions of around 50 shops along the Waheng Leikai market area, here on Friday.
Police says it will continue to smash the shops that encroach public property.
“We are wrecking the encroached portions of the shops which were found constructing stairs on the pedestrian paths and over the water pipelines,” superintendent of police (traffic) KS. Sarma told reporters.
She cautioned all not to encroach public property anywhere as she appeals to respect public property.
“We will take up proper steps as per the Law if anybody encroaches public property,” she said.
One person of each of the encroched shops were picked up to deal accordingly.
They will be given penalty, said the officer.
Passers-by along the Imphal city appreciated the police for the steps taken up against encroaching the footpath.
“This is a good step. More actions are needed so that public property are not encroached in future,” said a public.
