Korea Manipuri Association jointly celebrated Ningol Chakouba and Chavang Kut 2019

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 5, 2019: Different communities from Manipur now living in Korea celebrated Ningol Chakouba and Chavang Kut 2019 together under the aegis of Korea Manipuri Association (KMA). The gathering was held on November 2, 2019 at Lake Town pension house at Anseong City, South Korea.

This celebration was observed sharing harvesting festival of tribal cousins of Chin Kuki Mizo, and special luncheon to Meitei married women (Ningols) offered by their brothers (pibas) at their natal homes respectively.

This year, the joint event was celebrated with the theme of “Ching Tam Amatani” (Hill valley is one). The gathering was participated by about 40 KMA members. People from different communities came together taking breaks from their busy schedule to mark this festival as a communal harmony and memorable historical get together.

Traditional foods were cooked and prepared in a very special way of Manipuri taste.

Ningols of KMA was served with several delicious food menus, specially cooked by younger Pibas’ hands. After the feast, gift items are presented to the Ningols by the Pibas by bowing, and in return, getting blessings from the Ningols.

The celebration was beautifully decorated with the ‘Ningols’ wearing their traditional Meitei wardrobe, and the Chin Kuki Mizo brethren were clad in their ethnic attires.

Speeches on Kut and Ningol Chakouba were delivered, Chavang Kut dance, Thabal Chongba were performed, and songs were sung altogether by Pibas and Ningols.

After enjoying the memorable feast, cultural performance were shown by the children and adults of KMA members.
