Drugs worth over Rs 2.8 crore recovered
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 9, 2020: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) recovered contraband drugs worth over Rs 2.83 Crore from Khudengthabi Check Post in Tengnoupal District on Tuesday.
The troops at the check post stopped a suspicious grey coloured Eeco Van bearing registration number MN 04 A 6949 which was moving from the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh towards Imphal. It was driven by Manlun Haozalian Zou, 35, resident of Machi village, Chandel district along with two passengers who were Lhunkholal Lhunddim, age, 30, residential of Khotlenphai village, Chandel and S. Sundaywon, 48, resident of Salemram village, Chandel.
During checking of the vehicle, approximately 904 grams of suspected Brown Sugar and 206 gm of suspected Heroin with approximate total worth of Rs 2,83,80,000 in the International market were recovered, Assam Rifles said in a press statement released on Thursday.
The recovered contraband items and the apprehended persons have been handed over to Moreh police station for further investigation.
