Manipur Police recovers IED on Republic Day

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 27, 2020: Manipur Police recovered an improvised explosive device (IED)from Imphal River bank at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai on Republic Day and arrested two suspects with the IED blast triggered on January 23 at RIMS crossing in Imphal.

The explosive device was recovered from the disclosure of Wangjam Premchand alias Tabi, a ‘trained PREPAK’ cadre, of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Imphal West. He was arrested on January 24 during follow-up action of seizure of one hand grenade from his homestead on the previous day by a team of Imphal East Police commando with the assistance of Imphal West Police.

The explosive device was disposed off by BDS team of CID at Lamdeng area.

In connection with the IED blast on January 23 at RIMS crossing, one remote control device was recovered from Punshi Keithel, here and arrested two suspects—Kayenphaibam Tolongkhomba Meitei, 32, son of (L) K.Kesho Meitei of  Nongpok Mayai Leikai and Soibam Narendra Meitei, 29, son of S.Kumarjit of Loitang Sandum Awang Leikai.
