38 HSLC exam candidates expelled

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 3, 2020: Thirty-eight HSLC examination candidates were expelled on Tuesday, the fifth day of the examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur.

Thirty-two of them were expelled for impersonation while the remaining were expelled for copying.

Of the candidates expelled for impersonation five were candidates of Kangpokpi Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi from the exam centre at Parizeau Maranatha Academy, Kangpokpi; 12 were candidates of Ideal High School, Pallel and eight were candidates of St. Joseph High School, Kuraopokpi who were appearing at M. G. Evergreen Higher Secondary School; six were candidates of P.L.C. Academy, Yairipok appearing at Yairipok Government High School, Yairipok; and one was a candidate of Haoreibi Makha Leikai High Madrassa, Lilong appearing at Lilong Higher Secondary School, Lilong.

One of the candidates expelled for copying was found possessing mobile phone. The student belonged to Mahmood English High School, Lilong, appearing at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa, Lilong. One was a candidate of N. Gulap Memorial English School, Haoreibi Part-II, Sambei appearing at Cosmopolitan High School, Chingkhu. Two of them were candidates of Sekmai Kumbi High School and two were candidates of New Light Public School, Moijing and Khoirom High School, Khoirom, who were appearing at STNBA High School, Yairipok.

Mathematics was the exam paper of the day.

Twelve candidates were expelled on the fourth day, nine were expelled on the third day of the examination. Twenty candidates were expelled on the second day of the examination and eight were expelled on the first day.

FIR will be initiated against those candidates expelled for impersonation, said state board secretary Dr. Chithung Mary Thomas.

The Manipur state board appreciated and thanked the stakeholders for extending cooperation for smooth conduct of the examinations.

The HSLC examination was commenced on February 17 and will conclude on March 5.
Altogether 38664 candidates were registered for the examination.
