Biren bats to book culprits involved in teachers’ assault over expelling HSLC exam candidate

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 5, 2020: At least 13 teachers were injured as they were allegedly attacked by students after Flying Squad of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur expelled a student who was caught for using unfair means during HSLC examination at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa on Thursday.

The students also vandalised the school causing huge damages to the school property as well as the vehicles of the supervising officer, officer in-charge and assistant officer in-charge and teachers.

“The culprits involved in assault of 13 teachers and vandalising school properties and teachers’ vehicles will be booked under the rule of law,” chief minister N. Biren Singh said terming the incident as unfortunate.

The government would not tolerate the vandalism of school properties and assault on teachers, he added.

Such barbaric acts severely undermine the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education among the students in the state, Biren said.

The HSLC exam conducted by the Manipur board concluded on Thursday.
