COVID-19: Art and culture auditoriums, museums to remain closed, mass gathering prohibited

Imphal: Art and culture auditoriums—Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre and Chandrakirty Auditorium, Artistes Dormitory and Art Gallery and INA hall, state museum and INA museum will remain closed as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 (Corona virus) threat.

The Manipur art and culture department on Thursday notified that permission for hiring of Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre and Chandrakirty Auditorium, Artistes Dormitory and Art Gallery and INA hall of the department shall not be entertained as a precautionary measure to prevent from any possible spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the state with immediate effect and until further order.

State museum and INA museum shall also remain close for the time being, it added.

MAHUD department, following the advice of ministry of health and family welfare to avoid or possibly postpone any kinds of mass gatherings to avoid the spread of Novel Corona Virus disease, has directed the Municipal commissioners and executive officers of urban local bodies to avoid all kinds of workshops, conventions, public meetings, conferences etc. in their respective jurisdiction until further notice.

They have also been directed to ensure that mass gatherings of more than 100 persons except for family rituals, religious ceremonies etc. are held only with the prior approval of the deputy commissioner concerned. In cases where mass gatherings has e been approved by the deputy commissioner(s), the organizers shall ensure that precautions as per guidelines to avoid Severe Acute Respiratory Illness, and Influenza like illness including COVID-19 are adequately complied with.

As a precautionary measure to avoid potential spread of the COVID-19 during capturing of digital signature and handling of common IT gadgets by applicants of Learner’s Licence, the grant of learners’ Licence under Section 8 of the MV Act 1988 is hereby suspended with immediate effect and under further orders in public interest, said a notification of the directorate of transport.

Till date Manipur has no report of COVID-19 positive case.
