Manipur borders sealed

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 23, 2020: All interstate borders of Manipur shall be sealed for movement of passengers by public and private transport, said an order issued by state home department Monday.

It orders to suspend all passenger carrying public transport and private vehicles within the state ‘except goods vehicle’.

All shops, malls, markets, commercial establishments, shall be closed except shops dealing with groceries/vegetables/medicine/ milk/LPG/Petrol pumps, it said.

It orders that all persons who were abroad during January or February and have returned to Manipur after March 1 to furnish their particulars and travel history to the notified agencies (shomemaninutfastmail.com) on or before March 24.

Those who have been advised home quarantine should observe it very strictly. The Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police should ensure strict compliance, the order said.

Any congregation of more than four person is prohibited.

All government and private offices should remain closed except the essential services.
Home department, police department, GAD, district administration, health, fire services, prisons, power, PHED, municipalities, consumer affairs and public distribution. NIC both state and district units, banks/ATMs, media, IT and 1TeS including postal and interne services, hospital, optical stores, diagnostic xenters, oharmacies, takeaway home delivery restaurants.

Any person(s) found violating the restrictions above, shall be prosecuted under section 188 IPC- violation of order promulgated by the government, section 269 IPC- negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease, section 270 [PC-malignantly doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease and section 271 IPC- knowingly disobeying any quarantine rule etc, the state order cautioned.

These orders shall take immediate effect and shall be in force till March 3, it said.

The state government has taken up numerous steps like closure of international boundaries with Myanmar, closure of malls, restaurants, cinema halls, tourist spots, closure of interstate border for passenger vehicles, suspension of all public transport, restriction to gathering of people etc.
